João Antas Martins
João Antas Martins (1963) graduated in Economics in 1986 (FEP-UP).
He held the Young Managers Program at INSEAD in 1994.
In 1995, he obtained his Master's Degree in Economics (FEP-UP), with a dissertation in which he obtained the maximum classification.
In the 1990s, he lectured at the Catholic University of Porto, ISAG and IESF in Economics, Finance and Strategy fields.
He was in the banking sector for 3 decades (BPI Group).
Between 1988 and 2002, he worked in Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Evaluation and Long Term Financing.
From 2002 to July.2018, he was responsible ("Director Coordenador") for Corporate Recoveries, managing high complex tasks, including corporate restructuring operations, syndicated loans and valuation and sale of companies and credits.
He developed close relationships with Portuguese and international investment funds, international auditing and consulting firms, leading law, servicing and real estate appraisal companies.
He was Executive Director of companies owned by Banks as a result of recovery actions.
Between 2011 and 2018, he participated actively in NPL issues ( IFRS 9, organizational models, impairments, among others) in response to requests from the ECB, Bank of Portugal, Portuguese Banking Association (APB) and European Banking Association (EBA).
In 2017 and 2018, he was member of APB´s "Task Force-NPL”.
He developed pro-bono activities as member of the Selection and Evaluation Committees of BPI Awards on social responsabilty, visiting dozens of humanitarian and charitable organizations throughout the country.
